Major NZ roading projects lead to South Africa
A major engineering company involved in two massive projects – Transmission Gully and the Northern Corridor – needed quantity surveyors to work across New Zealand.
Working In Digital ran a four-week marketing campaign with online advertising, job posts on our website and emails to our database.
Initially, the Working In team filtered applicants and passed them on to our client who got in touch with candidates straight away. A shortlist for interviews in South Africa was then drawn up.
By coincidence, one of our client’s bridge structure managers was about to attend a wedding in South Africa, so it was decided to make the most of the opportunity and hold an interview day for surveyors in Johannesburg.
A venue was booked near Johannesburg’s main railway station to make it easy for all applicants to attend. A Working In staff member accompanied the client, to be the point of contact, to welcome candidates and make sure the interviews progressed smoothly.
Of the eight candidates interviewed in Johannesburg, four were offered roles and three were hired. At very short notice we were able to deliver the skilled people our the company needed.
